SB Devi Charity Home
In the year of 1991, the association S.B. Devi Charity Home (SBDCH) was founded in Kolkata. Its goals are the same as those of the Foundation Calcutta Project Basel. So, over the years, a fruitful partnership between these two institutions has developed.
In close cooperation, several programmes have been created in Kolkata. The on-site management of these programmes lies with S. B. Devi Charity Home. The Foundation Calcutta Project Basel supports the activities on a financial and technical level. Thanks to modern communication technology, a constant exchange between the two partners is possible.
The staff of S. B. Devi Charity Home consists of people from various social strata and with different religious convictions. The gender ratio is well-balanced, and women are encouraged to exercise managerial functions. Generally, all staff of S. B. Devi Charity Home receives a salary for their services. The exceptions are several doctors who work as volunteers and only receive a symbolical remuneration and the members of the Governing Body.
The Governing Body is the highest authority of S. B. Devi Charity Home. Members of the Governing Body have long ranging experience in medicine or law and have excellent contacts to key members of the government or members of Rotary Clubs.
The General Secretary is the link between the Governing Body and the managerial functions of S. B. Devi Charity Home. Most important for the cooperation with the Foundation Calcutta Project Basel is the Programme Supervisor. Furthermore, each programme is attended by a monitor who is constantly in touch with the respective monitor of Foundation Calcutta Project Basel.
